Three Tips for Healthy & Happy Dating
Dating requires investments of time, energy, patience, and money. Getting the most enjoyment and success out of dating experiences is a common goal for many of my coaching clients. In addition to approaching dating as a selfdiscovery process, our coaching programs include identifying counterproductive dating habits and improving specific interpersonal communication skills. Through coaching, clients also increase confidence and selfawareness. Ultimately, the dating process becomes more fun, healthy, and proactive.
Here are three essential dating tips to help you create the dating life you want and attract the relationships you desire:
Tip 1). Approach dating as a selfdiscovery process. Dating is a journey toward finding someone to compliment your life. Every dating experience is an opportunity to get know yourself better and gain clarity around who and what you want. Many people have blocks around dating. These blocks can be assumptions, interpretations, and selflimiting beliefs around the types of people they date, how to present themselves via dating profiles, as well as how to conduct themselves on dates. Removing blocks is essential to communicating authentically and attracting your ideal mate. ~ What blocks do you have around dating?
Tip 2). Practice healthy dating habits. When not managed appropriately, our insecurities, fears, and ego can block us from being the person we want to be. Many people experience frustration when dating due to selfdefeating behavioral patterns. These patterns often include forcing a romantic fit with people when there is no real connection, getting too attached, or pushing people away too quickly. Other types of counterproductive behavior when dating are poor listening, being overly selfinvolved, talking too much, and not being present in the moment. Recognizing unproductive patterns is the first step to developing new, constructive habits. Becoming more confident and selfaware while improving interpersonal communication skills can make your dating life more healthy, enjoyable, and successful. ~ What dating habits and patterns do you want to change?
Tip 3). Be proactive. Dating requires investments of time, energy, patience, and money. Feeling nervous, uncomfortable, confused, and frustrated when dates don’t live up to your expectations is understandable and common. Consciously choose to remain proactive and open to the dating process rather than being discouraged and selfcritical. Learn something new about yourself and actively practice effective interpersonal skills on every date. In doing so, you will maximize your investments and increase your potential to create the dating life you desire. ~ How proactive is your dating life?
